On the second day in Florence, Noah, Fredrik, Matt, Gavin and I went
and explored the other side of the bridge, and came across some
amazing things. It all started out as us exploring in order to waste
a few minutes, since the restaurant we initially going to eat at
wasn't open yet. We kept walking up the steep streets of the village,
until we stopped at a certain point, and everyone started criticizing
Noah. In the past couple days, he had been constantly getting us
lost, and then Fredrik would get us back to where we were originally.
After a couple minutes of disputing whether to continue on or not, we
decided to continue on for 5 more minutes. After about 10 minutes of
walking, we found Fort Belvedere, which Noah kept nagging us to see
the day before. We asked a man who lived near there what was beyond
where we were, and he said it was about a half hour walk to something
which he didn't specify, it sounded something like Michelangelo. So
we decided to go that way, and on the way we found a little church,
that looked very welcoming. We saw some people walking out, so we
figured that a church service was ending. After we finished praying,
we turned around, and saw that we walked in on a baptism. We sat on
the pews, and awkwardly sat there for a few moments, and then left
quietly. We ran down the small cobblestone road, and came across an
actual, paved road. After we walked on the side of the road for a
while, and Noah constantly commenting on how beauriful it was, we got
fed up of walking. Fredrik had an idea to run down a hillside that we
were walking passed, which appeared to be numerous backyards for
people below. Fredrik claimed that there was a road at the bottom of
the hill, even though there was none to be seen, as well as walls and
fences in between us and it. We ran down the hill, maneuvering our
way around the fences and walls, and ended up on the road again. From
here, we could see a little restaurant, and we decided to eat there,
since our original plan was to eat lunch anyways. That meal was one
of the best I have ever eaten in my life. I ordered tortelloni with
meat sauce and porcini mushrooms. I cannot begin to describe how
amazing those mushrooms were. I feel the same way about the risotto
that Noah, Fredrik, and Matt ordered. It was the perfect amount of
food.
